1857 Half Cent, PCGS Uncirculated Details, Altered Surfaces.
We think that PCGS was a bit harsh on this one, since the "altered surfaces" are not obvious. We think it is due to the fact that the color is a bit too pale, and there are some light spots on the obverse (see photos). This coin was graded in 2021 and is from an old collection that was formed in the 1960s and 1970s.
We added some of our own photos to give a more accurate idea of what the coin looks like, as opposed to the TrueView taken by PCGS. There's a touch of subtle luster remaining, as well as tinges of original mint red coloration. The strike is razor-sharp.
